September 2019 sees the arts fayre ‘We Are Creative’ at Lichfield Cathedral. The exciting day is open to the public with free entry on the 21st September – 10am-4pm

Organisers, The Sculpture and Art Foundation CIC are inviting creatives to take a space within the event, as a wonderful opportunity to show off their talents within the stunning interior of the Cathedral.

Open to artists and craftspeople and those with creative visual art skills

“We want to provide a platform for creative people to show what they can do, what they can make and to help show off the vast number of talented individuals who live, work and create in the region”, Kathryn Walker, Director of The Sculpture and Art Foundation.

The event provides opportunity for artists, designers and craftspeople to come together in one place to sell, discuss and share ideas with visitors and other creatives.

The Sculpture and Art Foundation CIC is keen that artists and craft-makers from all styles and creative disciplines apply for a space in the event. Visitors can take advantage of the chance to come and experience new art forms, speak with artists.

In an area rich in artistic talent and within the Creative County of Staffordshire this is a fantastic opportunity to show off artists work to a diverse audience.

This year the art stalls will be sited around a 36m Art Installation ‘One Small Step’ By Artist Peter Walker made in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

This September sees the launch of the new annual arts fayre ‘We Are Creative’ at Lichfield Cathedral. The exciting new event is open to the public with free entry on the 29th September – 10am-4pm

Organisers, The Sculpture and Art Foundation CIC are inviting creatives to take a space within the event, as a wonderful opportunity to show off their talents within the stunning interior of the Cathedral.

Open to artists and craftspeople and those with creative visual art skills We Are Creative will become an annual event in Lichfield. “We want to provide a platform for creative people to show what they can do, what they can make and to help show off the vast number of talented individuals who live, work and create in the region”, Kathryn Walker, Director of The Sculpture and Art Foundation.

The event promises to be the start of a new and inspiring annual project, providing opportunity for artists, designers and craftspeople to come together in one place to sell, discuss and share ideas with visitors and other creatives.

Visitors can expect an exciting new showcase of Artists and their artwork with artist-led workshops, talks, demonstrations and children’s activities. There will be food and drink stalls and handmade gifts for sale as well as original art works and unique crafts.

During this Easter holiday from 1st April – 6th April; The Sculpture and Art Foundation CIC shall once again open the doors to the Boat House Art Space for viewers to enjoy another artist’s creation within this beautiful setting and unusual art space at Stowe Pool, Lichfield, Staffordshire. Presented by The Sculpture and Art Foundation CIC, the next artist to showcase work in The Stowe Pool Boat House Art Space is by Caroline Lowe.

Caroline Lowe’s work investigates culture’s discursive surface: materiality in terms of both its tangible fabric and philosophical contexts, and the psychoanalytical methods of perspective and empathy. Caroline is a multidisciplinary artist working and living in South Derbyshire. Although she excelled in Art as a child, she was discouraged from following it as a career. She continued to study as a mature student, completing first her A Level and then Foundation degree at Lichfield College. After receiving a first class degree in Fine Art from The University of Derby she continued to study and has recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from The University of Birmingham. Caroline’s work uses a combination of two and three dimensional forms in installation, creating an environment where the viewer becomes part of the work.

Previous Installations at the Boathouse such as work by Hannah Golding for Staffordshire Day and Jane Austen’s Garden by Peter Walker have seen many people visiting the city participate in the contemporary installations in the Boat house art space. The visual artworks are highlighting the beauty of the area and showing the uniqueness of spaces in the city from a fresh perspective, Stowe Pool has been a great inspiration to the contemporary artists here today and many from the past who visited the area such as JMW Turner and Poet Anna Seward.

Artist Caroline Lowe draws inspiration for her work from Dr Johnson’s Willow, an enormous tree which became famous for its great size. It was much admired by Johnson, who always visited it whenever he returned to Lichfield in later life. The current Johnson’s Willow on the site is a descendant of the original. Caroline has taken inspiration and the artwork she creates reflects her interest in the history of the landscape the boathouse is surrounded by.

The Boat House shall be open for people to meet the artist and see the work from 11-4pm 1st/2nd April and 11-3pm each day until 6th April.
