Performance Art Day

Performance Art Day

The 30th October 2010 saw the first Performance Art Day in Lichfield. The event, which was free featured a number of pop up happenings, flash mob performances and workshop opportunities around the city.

Performance Art Day was centred around a number of free drop in performance art workshops at the Guildhall,  featuring poetry, sound composition and story telling workshops.  An open art forum was also arranged for people to come and discuss the activities of the Foundation.  An hour of free performance and story telling featured local people, students and performance artists. We worked with Acclaimed storyteller Andy Hawkins, a professional and drama practitioner performing all over the United Kingdom. Over two full days young people developed skills in both storytelling and performance work using Lichfield as a source of inspiration, to create unique stories which weave the idea of people, place and landscape into crafted performance work.

Further to this well know Storyteller Chris Lowe spent time around the city centre trying to discover – “all things Garrick”.
